Kimani Ichung’wah claims Justin Muturi has beef with Ruto

Kikuyu Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Kimani Ichung’wah has once again strongly criticized Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Justin Muturi over remarks about his son’s abduction.
Speaking during an interview with Mehdi Hasan on Thursday, February 27, 2025, Ichung’wah claimed that Muturi has personal issues with President William Ruto.
Insisting that Muturi lied about his son’s abduction, the National Assembly Majority Leader, accused the former Attorney General of playing politics with a serious and unfortunate incident.
According to Ichung’wah, the Public Service CS statements are politically motivated rather than grounded in facts.
“Justin Muturi the former Attorney General and the current minister for public service is a politician, to begin with, has beef with his boss in the government that he services,” he said.
“The minister (Muturi) has a reason to lie, It is all politics, he is playing politics with a very unfortunate incident.

Ichung’wah also stated that Muturi is likely aware of his potential departure from the Cabinet, which is why he is attacking the very government he serves.
In addition, Ichung’wah revealed that the allegations raised by Muturi are currently under active investigation.
He further pointed out Muturi’s removal as Attorney General during the June 2024 demonstrations, hinting that there were specific reasons behind his ousting.
“There are reasons why Justin Muturi was removed as Attorney General around the time of the demonstration in June last year, there are reasons probably Justin Muturi knows is probably on his way out it is he who has made those allegations that is a matter that is under active investigation,” he added.
Muturi on son’s abduction
Speaking to the press on Sunday, January 12, 2024, Muturi lamented that his son is one of the victims of abductions.
“My son was abducted and disappeared. I was not sure whether he was alive or dead making us anxious and leaving me and my wife and the rest of the family in turmoil. At that time I was the attorney general of Kenya and a member of the National Security Council. Despite making several requests, I was unable to trace my son,” Muturi stated.
“Now, more than six months after the ordeal and his release by unknown forces, he has not been charged with any offence and the government at all levers has not been able to give me reasons for his abduction.”

Muturi further revealed that after numerous failed attempts to locate his son, he escalated the matter to President William Ruto.
The President then contacted National Intelligence Service Director Noordin Haji, who confirmed they had Leslie in custody. Shortly after this intervention, Leslie was released.
“I heard the President ask Noordin Haji if he was holding my son, Noordin confirmed that indeed he was holding my son and the President instructed him to release Leslie immediately. Noordin responded that Leslie would be released within an hour,” Muturi said.
