Kenya Power announces planned blackout in parts of 6 regions
Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has issued a public notice announcing planned power interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Central, North Rift, North Eastern, Coast, and Eastern regions to allow for essential maintenance work on its electricity network.
According to the notice issued on Monday, September 15, 2025, power blackouts in the Nairobi region will be experienced in Pipeline, Kware: Chaminade, St. Mary’s Hospital, Mukuru Kwa Njenga, Kware Police Post, Mukuru Kwa Njenga Primary, Kware Statehouse, Kwa Komondo, Pipeline Chairmans, Muindi Mweusi Supermarket, Part of Plot 10, and adjacent customers will experience outages on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In part of Kilimani, the outage will be expected at Cotton Road, parts of Dev Pritt Road, Kayawe Road, Galana Road, Argwings Kodhek Road, Lenana Road, Chania Avenue, Wood Avenue, Kirichwa Road, Adlife Plaza, Eastlands Hotel, French School, Yaya Centre, Prestige Plaza, Moi Girls Kibera, Toi Market, Woodley Estate, Jamhuri Estate, and adjacent customers will also be affected on the same date between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Central Region
Power outage will be experienced in Nyandarua/Laikipia (Rumuruti Town and surrounding areas, Nyeri (Kimathi–Karuna-ini and Gakutu areas), Meru (Nkubu Market and surrounding areas and Embu (Ugweri–Kigaa areas) on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Mt Kenya Region
The blackout is also expected in Meru County in Nkubu Mkt, Mikumbune Mkt, Kamaege Mkt, Mikumbune H/Centre, Mikumbune Library, Consolata Hosp, Jekim Hosp, Nkubu High, Nkubu Day Sec Sch, Equity Afya Hospital, Prime Regent Hotel, Riverbank Hotel, Nyagene Sec sch Batian Nuts, Kieru C/ Fact and adjacent customers.
North Rift
West Pokot (Siyoi, Kaprech, Kapchilla, Paralywa, Chepkalit, Chepkono, Kipat, Kokwoplekwa, Kaptabuk, Kapsangar and adjacent areas): Outages on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
North Eastern
Kitui (Mwitika, Kikuu, Kyamatu, Muthungwe, Makalini, Mukunduni markets, and nearby areas): Outages on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Coast Region
In Mombasa County, the outage is expected on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in Shikadabu, Kibaki Estate, Ujamaa, Mascape Shionda, Pungu Slaughter, Diani Beach Hospital 2, Fire, Samaki Poa, Vijiweni Kwa DC, Alamano, Mwangala, Kibundani, Thirdword, Corner Mpya, Corner Mbaya, Soweto, Conlata, Musikiti and adjacent areas.
Whereas in Kilifi (Jilore, Kakoneni, Pishi Mwenge, Kakoneni Sec, Kaskoneni Dispensary, Baricho water and adjacent customers) outages on Tuesday, September 26, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
