People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua has strongly denied claims of praising President William Ruto following a recent poster circulating online with her picture inscribed.

Karua swiftly discredited the poster, labelling it as fake and reaffirming her critical stance towards the president.

The former Presidential deputy candidate took to her official X account on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, where she came out bluntly at William Ruto revealing that he is the most incompetent person to occupy the office of president.

” @WilliamsRuto is the most cowardly and incompetent person to occupy the office of president,” Karua wrote.

Her response followed a fake poster that implied she is fully supporting President William Ruto’s administration.

“Martha Karua (NRC) rallies behind President Ruto’s bold vision!, With Kusema na Kuntenda, she champions a Kenya where justice triumphs over cartels. #RutoNiMnoma,” the fake poster read in part.

Likewise, a part of the fake poster also implied that the People’s Liberation Party backed Ruto by stating that real change demands courage, and President William Ruto had done it.

“Real change demands courage, and President William Ruto has shown it. No monopoly will stand above the people, and no cartel will remain beyond the law. Kenya’s future is firmly rooted in justice and fairness,” read a section of the fake post.

Karua criticises Ruto

Meanwhile, her remarks follow a recent criticism by the People’s Liberation Party leader, where she criticised President William Ruto’s remarks on vision and discipline, saying what Kenya needs most is respect for rights and the rule of law.

In a statement shared on her X account on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Karua accused the president of misleading Kenyans by preaching discipline while his administration violates the very principles it should uphold.

Karua accused the President of double-speak, saying he cannot continue to lecture Kenyans about discipline while his administration is associated with plunder, extrajudicial killings, and the intimidation of citizens. According to her, a government that disregards rights and the rule of law cannot credibly promise prosperity or national progress.

“@WilliamsRuto discipline means adherence to the rule of law, it means respecting people’s rights, not violating them. A regime that plunders, kills and terrorises its people is unlikely to lead the nation to prosperity,” Karua said.
