Five people died on Saturday afternoon in a grisly road accident at Ng’atataek, Namanga Kajiado County .

The head on collision involved a Toyota probox which operates as PSV and a saloon car.

Three other people were seriously injured during the incident.

The two vehicles were heading in opposite directions before the accident occurred.

The saloon car, which was heading towards Namanga, is said to have been overtaking another vehicle before colliding with an oncoming probox heading towards Kajiado.

According to Namanga traffic base commander Jackson Mathenge, four people died on the spot with the fifth person succumbing while being rushed to hospital.

Mathenge said the extent of the accident points out that the two vehicles were speeding.

He cautions motorists to be careful and observe traffic rules to avert accidents.

The saloon car driver, who was alone, died on the spot.

The probox had seven passengers on board when the accident occurred.

The three survivors, who include the probox driver, are receiving treatment at the Kajiado Referral Hospital and the five bodies have been moved to the same hospital morgue.
