Ida Odinga responds to Salasya’s request, vows to find him a wife

Ida Odinga has responded to Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya’s public request for help in finding a wife, saying she has heard his appeal and will personally look into it.
Speaking at Opoda Farm on Friday, November 7, 2025, where dignitaries gathered to pay their last respects to the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Ida said she was touched by Salasya’s words and promised to take his request seriously.
“Nimeona bwana Peter Salasya. Ile ombi lako, nimeskia. Asante sana, anasema anataka msichana kutoka hapa nimchagulie. Hiyo, I cannot take for granted. Daughters of Raila, nitachunguza sawasawa. Sindio?” she said, drawing laughter and applause from those present.

Salasya, known for his humour and light-hearted nature, had earlier expressed admiration for Ida and asked her to pray for him to find a wife with similar strength and character.
“Nataka uniombee, kwamba wakati nitakapo oa bibi, nioe bibi kama wewe. Ambaye anaweza ona pale mbele. There are a lot of things I want to share, but hii nitakuja nikae na wewe, nikueleze kwa sababu kuna mambo mingi sana. Mama Ida wewe you are a strong person. I need to come and see you,” he said.

In her response, Ida Odinga took the moment with grace and humour, saying she appreciated Salasya’s kind words and would take time to investigate and find a suitable partner for him. Her statement, “Daughters of Raila, nitachunguza sawasawa,” left many amused by the playful exchange.
