Grief has engulfed Kiungani police station as two officers were found dead after what is believed to be a domestic brawl.

The two, Constable Abel Wandari and his police wife Dorcus Chebet were found lying in a pool of blood. The discovery of their bodies came just a few minutes after officer Chebet, who is attached to Kiminini police station visited her husband(Wandari) who is attached to Kiungani police station.

Onlookers say that the two locked themselves in Wandari’s house with their one-year-old girl child after which three gunshots were heard from the police line houses.

It is after this that fellow officers rushed to the house only to find the man with a chest gun wound a the lady having a forehead gun wound. Initial reports indicate that the lady might have shot her husband in what is seen as a domestic quarrel.

Confirming the incident, Trans Nzoia county commander Jecinter Wesonga was overwhelmed with emotions as she described the incident saying that it was very unfortunate.

“Today as a police force we are mourning the death of very young officers below the age of 28 who have decided to take their lives,” she said amid sobs.

The bodies of the two have been moved to Kitale level 4 morgue awaiting autopsy report while the firearm and used cartridges have been collected for forensic examination.
