Kenyan comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has launched a public appeal to help a heartbroken businessman who went live on TikTok as his company’s belongings were being auctioned.

The man, later identified as Joseph Mutua, had gone live on TikTok on Friday, July 11, 2025, during the heartbreaking moment, trying to stay composed as his property was taken away.

Deeply moved by the video, Omondi took to his Instagram page on Saturday, July 12, 2025, urging Kenyans to help locate Mutua and offer support. He said he was touched by Mutua’s strength and positivity even as he faced one of the toughest moments of his life. Omondi promised not only to help him rise again but also to offer free advertisement for his business.

“Help me find this guy, please, tumuinue kidogo… You can feel the pain in his voice. I will also advertise his company for free,” Omondi stated.

The video of Mutua’s TikTok live quickly went viral. In it, he is seen making light of the situation, trying to smile and remain hopeful despite the obvious emotional toll.

“You just have to smile in pain. It feels nice, by the way. Vitu zangu ndo hizo zinakuwa auctioned, zinabebwa. This is the lowest moment I can go. Kama, this is my lowest, and I can smile. Mlete kazi, si mnaona nao naoauctioniwa,” Mutua said during the live TikTok stream.

Mutua later confirmed his identity and the situation on TikTok, expressing his determination to rise again, rebuild, and continue creating beautiful water features for clients across the country.

“I am Joseph Mutua, the man who went live as my life was being auctioned. I don’t just build myself back. I build dreams. Swimming pools, Jacuzzis, biodigesters. Founder – Swimming Pool Builders Kenya.”

Omondi, who has taken on an active role in helping struggling Kenyans, has led several fundraising and charity efforts in recent times through his initiative Team Sisi kwa Sisi.

Just a few days ago, on July 9, 2025, he shared a video showing the completion of two new classrooms for children who had been studying in dilapidated mud-walled structures. He also donated books, taught the children, and prayed with them.

“When people come together, nothing is impossible… God wins. We have delivered two classes for these little angels in three weeks,” he said.
