Embu: Mother of triplets seeks help to raise newborns after father runs off
Joy turned into worry for a young mother in Kianjokoma, Embu County, after she was unexpectedly blessed with triplets and suddenly faced the daunting reality of raising them alone.
Jackline Njeri from Miandari village delivered the three babies at Embu Level 5 Hospital. But instead of celebrating the miracle of new life, she is appealing to well-wishers for support to help her shoulder the overwhelming burden.
Speaking from her hospital bed, Jackline recounted how her husband abandoned her during pregnancy. Despite informing him about the birth of the children, he has not shown up even once to see his newborns.
“I separated from my husband when I was pregnant. Each time I call him, he promises to call me back, but it never happens. Now that the children are here, I am on my own. That is why I am pleading for help,” she said, her voice breaking with emotion.
Jackline revealed that the birth of triplets was completely unexpected. With no job or stable source of income, she fears she cannot provide her babies with even the most necessary items, such as diapers, clothing, and formula.

Besides caring for the triplets, Jackline also has another child at home who needs her attention.
“I already have a little one at home, and now with three more, I don’t know how to manage without help. My heart is heavy,” she added.
The triplets, two girls and one boy, were born with healthy weights. According to Embu County Executive Committee Member for Health, Jamal Runyenje, the first baby weighed 1,800 grams, the second 1,650 grams, and the third 1,440 grams.
“The babies are stable but delicate. They require constant care, warmth, and proper feeding to gain weight and grow healthy,” Runyenje said during his visit to Jackline at the hospital.
Jackline said her biggest challenge remains the daily cost of raising four children on her own. She appealed to well-wishers, community members, and leaders to step in and lend a helping hand.
“This is a blessing, yes, but it has come with challenges I cannot manage alone. Anyone who can help me with food, clothing, diapers, or even a kind word will make a difference,” she pleaded.
