Duale hosts community elders for Iftar dinner as Muslims mark Eid-ul-Adha

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, hosted community elders, youth, and Islamic scholars for an Iftar dinner in Garissa County.

Taking to his official X account on the morning of Friday, June 6, 2025, Duale stated that the Iftar dinner coincided with the Day of Arafa, a day when Muslims globally observe fast in solidarity with those who have made the pilgrimage to Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

“On the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, a significant day in the Islamic calendar, I hosted community elders, youth, and Islamic scholars for an Iftar dinner in Garissa County. The Iftar dinner coincided with the Day of Arafa, a day when Muslims globally observe fast in solidarity with those who have made the pilgrimage to Makkah, Saudi Arabia,” Duale stated.

Duale went ahead to reveal some of the discussions that came up during the Iftar dinner.

According to the former Garissa Township Member of Parliament (MP), community opinion shapers had emphasised the importance of unity among Muslims and encouraged acts of charity within the community.

Togetherness and compassion

Duale also stated that the gathering had provided a platform for leaders and scholars to come together and promote a sense of togetherness and compassion.

Moreover, he passed a message of goodwill to the Muslim faithful as they celebrate Eid-ul-Adha.

“This act is one of the five pillars of Islam and signifies the climax of the Hajj pilgrimage. During the dinner, community opinion shapers emphasised the importance of unity among Muslims and encouraged acts of charity within the community. The gathering provided a platform for leaders and scholars to come together and promote a sense of togetherness and compassion,” Duale wrote on X.

“Eid-ul-Adha, which will be marked tomorrow, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience to Allah and his willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail. The celebration is a time for Muslims to reflect on their faith and demonstrate their commitment to their values,” he added.

Kalonzo’s message

Wiper Democratic Movement Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has also extended heartfelt Eid ul-Adha greetings to Muslims across Kenya, emphasising the festival’s core values of sacrifice, selflessness, and community care.

In his Eid ul-Adha message shared on Friday, June 6, 2025, via his official social media channels, Kalonzo encouraged all Kenyans, irrespective of faith, to reflect on the importance of giving, uplifting others, and living with purpose.

“On this sacred occasion of Eid ul-Adha, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes. Eid ul-Adha is a powerful reminder of the values of sacrifice, selflessness, and community care. It invites us all, regardless of faith, to reflect on what it means to give, to uplift others, and to live with purpose,” Kalonzo wrote.

The Wiper leader also called for renewed compassion, unity, and resilience among Kenyans, urging collective efforts to build a nation where no one is left behind. He concluded by wishing the Muslim community joyful celebrations filled with peace and shared blessings.
