Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to address the media from his Karen residence today.

A press invite sent to newsrooms indicates that the DP will address the press at 7 pm, however, but the comprehensive details of the briefing are unknown.

“Those who need to set up should be at the residence by 5 pm and the rest of the crew by 5.30 pm,” the invite reads in parts.

Gachagua’s anticipated briefing comes a day before his appearance at the National Assembly where he will be defending himself for the charges he is facing.

The DP is accused of various charges including corruption, gross violation of the constitution, and gross misconduct among others.

Earlier, High Court Judge Bahati Mwamuye declined to grant orders stopping impeachment proceedings against the DP.

This comes after former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General moved to court to stop the impeachment proceedings.

Malala stated in his appeal that the makeup of both the Senate and the National Assembly breached constitutional gender standards outlined in Articles 27(8) and 81(b) of the Kenyan Constitution, which provide that no more than two-thirds of elective bodies must be formed of the same gender.
