Popular comedian Felix Odiwuor, commonly known as Jalang’o, has challenged a 21-year-old man who created a placard begging him, his co-presenter Kamene Goro to come to his aid and settle his Ksh18,000 three-month rent arrears.

Vincent Mboya had gone viral on social media prompting netizens to ask the comedian-cum-radio presenter to help him out.

On Wednesday, August 11, Mboya managed to meet Jalang’o where he presented his case to him.

The comedian willingly cleared his rent arrears but at the same time challenged him to go out of his way and look for money to fend for his needs.

According to Jalang’o, him paying his rent does not mean his financial woes are over given that he will still need to provide for himself in the coming days.

“I will pay your rent, that is not the problem. The Problem is, after this then? Look these people around here, all they have is a phone and they are doing something. You have to look for ways to push yourself. You don’t have to peg your life on somebody else. Because once you paid for this, you will go to the house, what else are you going to do? Don’t look for easy ways in life,” Jalang’o advised.

He used the opportunity to inform the man that he has equally suffered in his life to reach where he is adding that success comes with a price.

Jalang’oo told the 21-year-old man that he is too young to start begging for survival given that opportunities are out there for him to go for.

“Wewe unaona nimevaa tuu suit saizi. Unajua nimewahi vaa ile nguo ya kuku nikiita watu hapo Sanford, nikiwaambia chips tamu, kuku fry ingieni?na nilikua nalipwa chips na kuku. At 21 you have already started this, ukifika 23 si utakua umerudi ushago?” he posed.

“Change your mentality, use what you have to get something. In life stop looking for sympathy, look for lasting solutions,” Jalang’o challenged him.

Speaking after being helped, the 21-year-old said he sought the help of Jalang’oo because he has been his big fan for over a year.
