Details of meeting between Ruto and Ukambani leaders revealed

President William Ruto on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, held a consultative meeting with a section of political leaders from Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties to discuss development priorities in the Ukambani region at State House, Nairobi.
The Head of State, in a statement via his official social media channels, said that the meeting focused on aligning the national government’s development agenda with the needs of the people through continuous engagement with regional leaders and stakeholders.
He emphasised the government’s commitment to delivering inclusive growth from the bottom up, noting that local leadership plays a crucial role in identifying pressing issues and workable solutions.
“Held a consultative meeting with leaders from Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties at State House, Nairobi,” Ruto disclosed.
“We are aligning our development agenda with the priorities of the people through continuous consultation with leaders and stakeholders. Our objective is to deliver inclusive growth from the bottom going up.”

Details of the meeting
Ruto’s meeting with the political leaders from the Ukambani region centred on key infrastructure projects, with leaders highlighting the urgent need for improved roads, access to clean water, better education facilities, affordable housing, and modern markets.
“We discussed critical infrastructure projects, including roads, water, education, affordable housing, and markets that are essential to the region’s transformation.
The president assured the leaders of the government’s readiness to fast-track implementation of the agreed projects, adding that the focus remains on equitable development across all regions.
The meeting is part of the broader government strategy to strengthen collaboration with county leadership and tailor national initiatives to local realities.

Consultative meetings
This comes weeks after Ruto hosted elected leaders from Narok County at State House, Nairobi, on Friday, May 2, 2025.
The president, in a statement shared via his official social media accounts, said that he had met Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from the Patrick Ole Ntutu-led county.
The meeting, Ruto said, is part of his ongoing plan to work with all leaders, including those belonging to different political persuasions, to take the country forward.
The head of state’s meeting with the political leaders from Narok centred on development projects, cohesion, and areas of collaboration between the national and county governments.
“We are working with all leaders, including those belonging to different political persuasions, to take our country forward. Met MPs and MCAs from Narok County, State House, and Nairobi. Our meeting discussed development projects, cohesion, and areas of collaboration between the national and county governments,” Ruto stated.
