DCI arrests man found with stolen police and NYS uniforms

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 33-year-old man found in possession of an assortment of stolen police and National Youth Service (NYS) uniforms in Itiko village.
According to a statement released by the DCI on April 1, 2025, Ernest Musyoka, who was already wanted for threatening to kill and assault charges, was apprehended at his home following a targeted operation by officers from Mutitu Police Station.
“Police officers from Mutitu Police Station have apprehended 33-year-old Ernest Musyoka and recovered government stores in his possession,” the statement reads in part.

During the search of his residence, officers discovered several items identified as government property.
“Upon searching the house, officers recovered an array of government stores, including a senior APS officer’s sweater, a former maroon APS sweater, and a green jungle sweater,” DCI explained.
Additional recovered items included three jungle belts, two pairs of APS trousers, three black berets, three jungle t-shirts, and four pairs of green socks.
The officers also recovered an NYS green sweater and two NYS shirts.

DCI confirmed that Musyoka is currently in custody as investigations continue.

Highway robbers arrested
In a separate operation, the DCI announced that officers from Voi Police Station apprehended three highway robbers who had been evading capture for an extended period.
The individuals—Joseph Macharia Mwangi, 40, Peter Muchemi Maina, 36, and Agnes Malemba Mshenga, 32—were arrested following a surveillance operation along the busy Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
“The trio was intercepted at Vacani Resort while travelling in a white Subaru Legacy bearing license plate KCJ 842Z,” DCI stated in a statement on April 1, 2025.
A thorough search of the vehicle revealed three sets of reflective number plates, jungle uniforms, a kitchen knife, two Maasai swords, and a mechanics kit containing spanners, a jack, pressure pumps, puncture repair tools, brake pads, and various house-breaking implements.

“Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, officers uncovered three sets of reflective number plates KCR 879U, KCA 583L, and KAZ 946L,” the DCI statement revealed.
The three individuals are currently being held at Voi Police Station as they undergo processing in preparation for their court appearance.
