Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi shares graphic details of her son’s fatal accident

Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi, in a deeply emotional address during her son Elvis Murakana’s requiem mass, provided a starkly detailed account of the tragic accident that claimed his life.
Speaking at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Nairobi on Friday, March 28, 2025, Elachi’s words served as both a mother’s lament and a stark warning to parents and young adults.
Elachi began by reflecting on the challenges faced by today’s youth, highlighting their tendency to handle problems independently.
“I want to talk to parents about our children today,” she said, her voice heavy with grief.
“So we have a generation that believes that it can sort out their own problems. So they wake up at any hour when one is in a challenge and they will not even tell you. They will go, they will deal with the problem, they will only tell you if indeed they were unable to do it and there is a crisis, but they will bail each other out, and you will not believe,” she added.
Elachi then recounted the circumstances leading to her son’s fatal accident.
“So in the same breath, that is what Elvis did; he was in bed at 10:30 pm. He was called on an errand of theirs, rushed, and did it well, so when he was coming back, he got a tyre burst with the car,” Elachi said.
The Dagoretti North MP proceeded to describe the accident’s aftermath in graphic detail, offering a cautionary message about driving safety.
“They are young people they don’t know that when you are driving any car and it gets a tyre burst; ‘DO NOT BREAK THE EMERGENCY BREAKS.’ The car will skid that’s where you will really really find yourselves in crisis. What you just do, you hold on that steering wheel, try to ensure that car goes goes, and pray that it comes to a stop.”

Her description of Elvis’s injuries was delivered with unflinching candor.
The Dagoretti North lawmaker revealed that her son suffered a severe head injury that caused his brain to dislodge, ultimately leading to his death.
“So in that, his brain now just moved and came out from its lobes and that’s what succumbed him,” she said, her words painting a harrowing picture of the tragedy.
Elvis Murakana had left home for errands in Kasarani on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, and suffered the fatal tyre burst on his return journey along Thika Road, causing his car to collide with guardrails.
He spent a week in the Intensive Care Unit at AAR Hospital before succumbing to his injuries.
At the time of his death, Elvis was a Business Studies student at Africa Nazarene University, anticipating his graduation in June 2025.
He will be laid to rest on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the family home in Nalepo Village, Kajiado County.
