Dagoretti Boys High School has been closed indefinitely and learning activities have been suspended following unrest among students.

According to multiple reports, the unrest was fueled by a disagreement over a basketball game on Sunday, September 15, 2024, escalating into a heated confrontation that left 11 students with injuries.

Police who arrived at the scene to quell the tension and violence noted that the chaos erupted after a dispute between a Form One student and a Form Four student emerged.

However, the chaos turned violent following a fight between Kenyan and Sudanese students, over religious indifferences.

This saw the students attack each other with sticks and stones.

The violent chaos further erupted into destroying property at the institution forcing the school administration to send the students home.

The school officials emphasised that the school closure is meant to protect the students and tame the violence.

This morning, tension was still high at the institution even as more police were deployed at the scene.

The injured students are currently being treated at the Garden Medical Clinic in stable condition.
