Covid-19 Update: 8,877 test positive as positivity rate stands at 13.8%

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported that 1,225 people tested positive of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

In a statement to newsrooms on Saturday, August 14, MOH said that the 1,225 tested positive out of a sample of 8,877 patients.

“Total confirmed positive cases are now 219,938 and cumulative tests so far conducted are 2,247,959,” MOH said in a statement.

MOH further stated that 1,199 of the new infections are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners.

“632 are female while 593 are male. The youngest is an eleven -month-old infant while the oldest is 97 years,” MOH stated.

Total confirmed positive cases now stand at 219,938 while cumulative conducted tests stand at 2,247,959.

Kagwe further stated that 1,318 patients recovered from the disease with 1,232 coming from the Home Based Isolation and Care Program while 86 are from various health facilities countrywide.

“Total recoveries now stand at 202,372 of whom 162, 453 are from the Home Based and Isolation Care Program while 39,919 are from various health facilities,” the statement by MOH said.

Unfortunately, 17 patients succumbed to the disease all of them being late deaths reported after health audits were conducted.
