Award-winning gospel DJ Frederick Karumba Ngatia, popularly known as DJ Krowbar, has shared a candid reflection on life in the 40s, describing it as a stage filled with contrasting experiences that often feel unpredictable and all over the place.

The social media personality, who noted that he is 41 years old, took to his official X account on Sunday, April 19, 2026 and said that people in their 40s are at very different life stages, making the age bracket feel unusually mixed and complex.

He outlined that some people have 3-year-olds, others have teenagers, and others are already grandparents, adding that some are dating 26-year-olds, while others look like they are 60 years old.

“I am 41 years old… 40s are crazy. Some people have 3-year-olds, others have teens, and others are grandparents. Some are dating 26-year-olds; others look like they are 60 years old,” DJ Krowbar wrote.

According to him, the wide range of lifestyles and situations makes the decade feel like a confused group project where everyone seems to be on a different page despite being in the same age group.

“It looks like a confused group project,” he added.

DJ Krowbar’s remarks highlight the often-overlooked diversity of adulthood, where age does not always define a uniform experience but rather a mix of personal journeys unfolding at the same time.

Life begins at 40?

The saying “life begins at 40” has long been used to encourage people to view their forties not as a period of decline, but as a new chapter of confidence, clarity, and self-awareness.

It suggests that by the time one reaches 40, there is often a better understanding of self, stronger emotional stability, and a clearer sense of priorities compared to earlier years.

For many, the 40s come with a shift in perspective. Career paths are more defined, relationships tend to be more intentional, and there is often less pressure to meet societal expectations. Instead of chasing validation, many people in this stage of life focus more on personal fulfilment, stability, and long-term goals.

However, the reality of life at 40 is not always uniform. As often noted in everyday conversations, this age group can be quite diverse; some are raising young children, others have teenagers, while some are already grandparents. Others are still exploring relationships or even starting new careers.

This wide range of experiences is what makes the saying both interesting and debatable.

Despite the differences, the core idea behind “life begins at 40” remains about renewal. It reflects the belief that this stage of life can offer a fresh start, where lessons from the past are used to make more grounded and meaningful decisions going forward.
