Comedian Chipukeezy lands new role in Ruto’s office

Stand-up comedian and emcee Vincent Muasya, popularly known as Chipukeezy, has made a return to public office following his appointment by President William Ruto.
The young comedian, who is a household name in Kenya’s media industry, has been appointed as the Assistant Director for Protocol and Events in President William Ruto’s Executive Office, a position that will see him liaise with Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Presidential Projects and Creative Economy.
In a statement posted via his social media, Itumbi congratulated Chipukeezy for his recent appointment.
“Congratulations, @chipukeezyvini, on your appointment as Assistant Director, Protocol and Events in the Executive Office of the President! Habakkuk 2:3. May you serve with unwavering focus and passion as we work together to drive the success of The Creative Economy,” Itumbi’s message to Chipukeezy read.
Chipukeezy has been acting as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) in the presidential functions.
Ruto’s man
The recognition from the head of state comes as a reward for the comedian’s long-standing support for the president long before his election to office in 2022.

He previously served as director at the National Authority for the Campaign Against Drug Abuse (NACADA) in 2018.
Uhuru appoints Chipukeezy for NACADA role
The role was the first state position, then serving at the behest of former President Uhuru Kenyatta. He was later elected as the Vice Chairperson in 2021.
In his new role, Chipukeezy will be among the people tasked with the strategic planning and execution of presidential events. He will also manage the president’s official ceremonies and diplomatic protocols.
Additionally, the presidential media team manages the press coverage and media arrangements during state functions. Announcements among other important presidential functions.

The announcement comes amidst a much-publicized cabinet reshuffle undertaken by the president this Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
In the new appointments, Ruto fired the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi in his latest shake-up of the cabinet and replaced him with the Mbeere North MP Geoffrey Ruku.
He further shuffled Environment CS Aden Duale to the Health Ministry, with the Health CS Debora Barasa announced as the new occupant of the Mazingira House.
“The two nominees are expected to bring to the Cabinet not only the knowledge and experience acquired over the course of their illustrious careers but, above all, their wisdom accumulated from their inspiring and diverse life journeys,” Ruto said after he nominated Ruku and Hannah Wendot Cheptumo to the Ministry of Public Service and Gender respectively.
