CLE issues notice for November 2025 bar exams

The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has officially announced the registration dates for the upcoming November 2025 Advocates’ Training Programme (ATP) examination.

In a public notice issued and shared on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the Council confirmed that registration will begin on Monday, August 4, 2025, and will close on Monday, September 1, 2025. The exams are scheduled to take place from Thursday, November 13, to Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

“Registration for the November 2025 Council of Legal Education ATP Examination will commence on Monday, 4th August 2025. The deadline for registration for the November 2025 ATP Examination shall be Monday, 1st September 2025. The November 2025 ATP Examination will be conducted from Thursday, 13th November to Tuesday, 25th November 2025, both days inclusive,” the notice read in part.

First-time candidates have been encouraged to take advantage of the Bar Examination Loan provided by the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). The deadline for loan applications is Monday, August 25, 2025. According to the CLE, the loan aims to support law graduates sitting for their bar exams for the first time.

The exams will only be conducted within the Nairobi Region, with no option for sitting them in other parts of the country. CLE has further outlined that candidates who may wish to defer their exams will be allowed to do so between Monday, October 20, and Friday, October 31, 2025.

Candidates will be able to access their examination cards through the student portal starting Monday, November 3, to Saturday, November 8, 2025.

“The ATP Examinations shall be administered within the Nairobi Region only. Deferrals by any registered candidate will commence on Monday, 20th October 2025, and close on Friday, 31st October 2025. No candidate shall be allowed to defer after the closing date. 7. Examination cards will be available on the candidate portal as from Monday, 3rd November 2025, to 8th November 2025,” the notice read further.
