Chief Justice Martha Koome has condoled with former CJ Willy Mutunga following the loss of his son Athman Mutuga.

In a message sent on behalf of the judiciary family on Sunday, October 13, 2024, CJ Koome expressed their deepest condolences to Mutunga’s family and wished the family comfort and strength during this difficult time.

“On behalf of the judiciary family and on my own behalf, I extend our deepest condolences to Emeritus Chief Justice (Rtd) Dr. Willy Mutunga and his family on the heartbreaking loss of his beloved son, Athman Mutunga,” the CJ said.

‘We stand with the Mutunga family in grief during this incredibly difficult time. While words may never fully ease the pain of death of a loved one, we hope that the family finds comfort in the cherished memories shared with Athman.”

The CJ additionally prayed to God that Athman’s soul rest in eternal peace.

EX-CJ Mutunga’s son, Athman Mutunga, died while receiving treatment at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
