Charles Kanjama announces bid to replace Faith Odhiambo as LSK president

Senior Counsel and governance expert Charles Kanjama has announced his bid for the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) presidency for the 2026–2028 term.
Through a post on X on Friday, November 14, 2025, Kanjama said, “After thoughtful consideration & counsel, I will run for President of the Law Society of Kenya (2026-28).

“The Time is RIPE for a clean principled campaign and leadership focused on Rule of Law, Integrity, Practice & Welfare, and Engagement.”
His announcement comes as the current LSK President, Faith Odhiambo, continues a series of official visits across the Mt. Kenya region to engage members on key issues affecting the profession.

Faith Odhiambo on ongoing LSK tour
On Thursday, November 13, 2025, Odhiambo shared an update from Kerugoya after meeting advocates in the area.
She wrote, “The second leg of day 1 of our Mt. Kenya Branch visit took us to Kerugoya, where we received a warm reception and candid feedback.
“Our zeal to serve members is reinvigorated by these interactions, which serve as a reminder of the centrality of the Law Society of Kenya in safeguarding the practice environment for Advocates.”

Earlier, Odhiambo noted that the council had kicked off its Mt. Kenya Branch visit in Embu, where they connected with members to discuss practice challenges in the region.
“We remain committed to delivering the best attainable quality of service to our members across the country,” she said.

Start of LSK campaign season
Kanjama’s declaration now sets the stage for what is expected to be a competitive race as the legal community prepares for a transition in 2026.
His message signals a campaign that will centre on integrity, professional welfare, and a stronger voice on rule of law issues.
