Central Regional police commander Titus Karuri has been involved in a road accident at Kirere market in Kigumo Sub-County, Murang’a County

According to police, Karuri’s vehicle was involved in an accident on Monday, July 19 along the Kangema-Kigumo road also known as Nyoka Nyoka.

The regional police commander was rushed to Kigumo health centre for First Aid before being transferred to a hospital in Nairobi for further treatment.

Confirming the incident, Murang’a County police commander Donatha Kiplangat said Karuri was responding well to treatment.

“He is currently in a stable condition and is being attended to at Kigumo health centre, and more information will be released once we have it,” Donatha said.

Karuri’s accident comes hours after four women coming from a church meeting were killed on Sunday evening by a vehicle whose driver lost control on the Murang’a-Kangema road.

During the 5pm accident, one of the women died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries at Murang’a County Referral Hospital.

According to Murang’a East police commander William Kiambi, one of the victims escaped unhurt after the driver of the vehicle coming from Kangema lost control around Hilltop village.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene fearing an attack from residents who rushed to the scene of accident.

Police said the vehicle was towed to Murang’a police station for investigations.
