Caleb Amisi warns of looming political betrayals ahead of 2027 elections

Saboti constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has issued a bold warning to Kenyan voters, particularly the youth, urging them not to fall into the trap of blind loyalty to political figures.
Taking to his official X account on the night of Monday, July 14, 2025, Amisi cautioned that many of the so-called tribal kingpins will soon abandon their current political affiliations in pursuit of personal gain as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
“Verily, verily, verily I say unto you,” Amisi began in a dramatic biblical tone, “do not abuse those appearing to be opponents of your leader. Between now and March 2027, a lot is going to change.”
Political realignments
According to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator, Kenyans should brace themselves for unexpected political realignments.
He accused senior ethnic-based leaders of having mastered the art of betrayal, switching sides shamelessly whenever it suited their interests.
“We know these tribal kingpins so well. They are going to change camps shamelessly—you will not believe it,” he said. “They have been playing these games for the last 50 years. They cannot change. It is their comfort zone.”
Amisi’s remarks appear to be a veiled reference to the recurring pattern of political defections and alliances that have shaped Kenya’s electoral history, often leaving the public disillusioned and sidelined.
He warned that ordinary citizens, especially the youth, risk being manipulated and divided by the same leaders who later unite behind closed doors.
“Kenya only needs a renaissance,” Amisi said. “And the young generation can do it.”

He called on the youth to rise above tribal divisions and historical loyalties and to begin crafting a new political reality—one rooted in ideas, integrity, and national interest rather than personalities and ethnic allegiances.
Amisi’s appeal to youth
Amisi, in a different statement, issued a powerful call to action for young Kenyans to reject tribal politics and embrace a new era of transformative leadership.
In a strongly worded statement issued via his official X account on Monday, July 14, 2025, Amisi warned against the growing tendency to divide emerging leaders along ethnic lines, calling it a destructive trend that has held the country back since independence.
“For Kenya to change, we must never be drawn into Team Wamunyoro or Team Kasongo. We must act differently and think differently. We must preach change, change that Kenya desperately needs,” Amisi stated.
