At least three boda boda riders suspected to have burnt down the official vehicle of Kisii Deputy Governor (DG) Joash Maangi have been arrested.

DG Maangi’s government-issued car was set on fire by a rowdy mob on Wednesday evening, February 17, at Ololunga, Narok County on the Bomet-Narok Road.

The car was torched after it hit and killed a man and his seven-year-old son while they were riding on a motorcycle.

The accident occurred when Maangi was travelling from Kisii to Nairobi.

Following the accident, an angry mob torched the car but Maangi and two aides escaped unhurt, with the Kisii leader later saying he almost died during the incident.
