Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) head preacher Bishop Michael Wanderi has reflected on the impactful preaching of gospel singer Betty Bayo, who passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Betty, who was renowned for songs like ‘Busy Busy’ and ’11th Hour’, was a baptised and committed member of Wanderi’s church, which has its headquarters in Kiambu town.

In a TikTok video on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Wanderi reflected on how power-filled Betty’s sermons were, saying they always started with electrifying presentations of some of her hit songs.

“Betty Bayo’s ministration at CFF Kiambu town and His Grace Prayer Mission,” Wanderi wrote.

Wanderi then posted a video which had been edited to highlight at least 15 of Betty’s past sermons, and in all, the songstress, who succumbed to acute myeloid leukaemia, is seen singing passionately and powerfully while delivering her sermons.

In some of them, Betty is heard urging congregants to always speak favour into their lives, while in others she narrates how God’s support had propelled her to become a minister of the gospel, alongside being a successful singer.

In another, Betty is seen getting emotional while introducing gospel singer and preacher Evelyne Wanjiru to their CFF Church, as she gave a testimony of how Evelyne’s live recording sessions inspired her.

“The fact that Evelyne was the first Kenyan musician to dare to do live music, and then when I asked her about the journey the day I decided to start also doing live music, and I struggled somewhere, the playback was good. So when I felt like I was giving up, she shared her journey with me, and I got encouraged and said that one day I will arrive also,” Bayo is heard saying while introducing Evelyne, who was also at the pulpit with her.

Betty’s memorial

The reflection came just hours after the preacher confirmed that the memorial service for Betty Bayo will be held at his church, Christian Foundation Fellowship (CFF) in Kiambu Town, on Sunday, November 16, 2025.

Speaking during a press conference held together with Betty’s family and the burial committee on Friday, November 14, 2025, Wanderi revealed that the memorial would start at 2 pm and urged all Kenyans to attend.

“I welcome all Kenyans to join us this Sunday at 2 pm for the memorial service at our church. We are coming together to mourn, to share in the grief, and to pay tribute to Betty Bayo’s legacy as a gospel singer and as a devoted Christian,” Wanderi said.

Wanderi highlighted Betty Bayo’s significant role in the church, noting that she was not just an ordinary congregant but an active minister who dedicated herself to supporting and uplifting others.

“She was not just a normal congregant; she was also helping in ministering, and so we feel a lot of grief,” he said, acknowledging the deep sorrow shared by church members and the wider gospel community.

He reflected on the suddenness of her passing, noting that the entire nation is mourning in stunned silence.

“Even if you listen, the world is silent, and there is a lot of grief because of her passing. She did not get sick for a long time and died, so the grief is immense in our country,” the preacher said.
