Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor John Barorot has resigned from his position in the County government, as announced by county governor Jonathan Bii on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Governor Bii disclosed that Barorot is stepping down to assume the role of Chief Executive Officer at an unnamed international organization in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector.

Barorot decision

The governor expressed respect for Barorot’s decision to pursue new opportunities outside of public service, despite the county’s desire to continue benefiting from his expertise.

“Today we announce the exit of our Deputy Governor, who has secured a CEO position at an international ICT organization. His last day of work is August 31, 2024. While we would have liked to retain his valuable knowledge and experience, we respect his decision to pursue interests beyond the political and public service arenas,” Governor Bii said.

Barorot thanked governor Bii and the people of Uasin Gishu for their support during his tenure. He expressed his departure with high spirits, citing the achievements of their administration.

“Thank you to the governor for the opportunity to serve and to the people for electing us. We have achieved more than we faced challenges, and I leave with pride. As we transition to city status, it’s crucial to advance our digital transformation efforts. The international role will allow me to contribute significantly to ICT advancements and investments, which will benefit both the county and the country,” Barorot said.

Barorot speculations

The resignation follows speculation about Barorot’s future, especially after his absence during the conferring of city status to Eldoret.

With 20 years of experience in the ICT and telecommunications industry, Barorot has been recognized for his successful leadership in various companies.
