Singer Alex Apoko alias Ringtone is arguably giving singer Bahati his flowers by recognising his influence in the music industry.

Ringtone sat down with Dr Ofweneke for an interview and held conversations cutting across his upbringing, career life and his influence in the Kenyan gospel scene as well as his real source of income.

According to him, Bahati is likely to fly Kenyan flag abroad but only as a secular artiste.

“Bahati might be the first secular artiste to go far (Represent Kenya on international platforms not limited to the Grammys Award),” he said.

While speaking on his own impact, he expressed confidence and alleged that he is the ‘future of gospel music in the country.”

Looking back, he admits that squabbles between him and other artistes at the beginning of his career worked out for his good as he was able to find his path for school ministering across high schools and colleges in the country.

“I made a lot of money from high schools and colleges. I used to go to schools and share my testimony and you find that the least I could make was Ksh20,000. There is a school I went to and made Ksh300,000,” he claimed.

Further, Ringtone says he gets most of his money from brokering land in high-end places in the country disputing his links with the money laundering and ‘wash wash’ cartels.
