Babu Owino opens up on his past party life with Pastor T Mwangi

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Paul Ongili, widely known as Babu Owino, has shared candid details about his university days, recalling how he and popular pastor Anthony Kahura Mwangi, popularly known as Pastor T, lived a wild party life before their paths took different turns.
The legislator admitted that he and Pastor T were once deeply immersed in partying.
Speaking during a church service at Life Church International in Kiambi County on Sunday, September 7, 2025, Babu described Pastor T as not only a close friend during their campus days but also a talented master of ceremonies who was always sought after for his courage and passion.
The vocal MP narrated how God is a God of turnaround, who transformed Pastor T from an MC to a pastor, and him from the slums to Parliament.
“God is a God of turnaround, he turned around pastor T from being an MC to being a pastor, he turned a little boy from the slums of Nyalenda, Kisumu, from the slums to the floor of parliament. I want to tell you, pastor T and I tulikuwa tunapiga sherehe mbaya tulikuwa watu wa sherehe mbaya lakini today I was sitting there receiving spiritual nourishment from pastor T, “Babu Owino narrated.
“When we were in campus, pastor T had a unique quality; he was the only person that we could look for anytime we had an event because he was gifted, he was talented, he was our MC, and he was the best anytime he did it; he did it with a lot of courage and passion.”
Pastor T’s transformation
Babu further praised Pastor T’s transformation, saying his leadership in ministry was God’s plan all along. He also declared that he and his family have officially joined Life Church International.
“Indeed, pastor T, here is where God wanted you to be, and he was preparing you from being an MC to now pastoring and may your kingdom always grow bigger and bigger. I am a member of this life church from today, pastor T. This is where God wanted us to be,” he said.
The former gospel rapper is known for his dynamic preaching and focus on youth mentorship.
