Autopsy conducted on bodies of Kiambu couple, Jonathan Mukundi and his estranged wife Philomena Njeri suggests that they died of gunshot wounds.
According to Kiambu DCI Denis Wekesa, Njeri was shot four times – twice in the head and two times on other parts of her body.
On the other hand, Mukundi had one gunshot wound on his head that entered from the left side of his head and from the left rapturing his brains.
The autopsy was conducted by government pathologist Dr Johansen Odour at Kenyatta University Referral Mortuary.
Earlier this week, Mukundi, a licensed firearm holder reportedly shot Njeri before committing suicide with the same firearm inside their bedroom.
Out of suspicion, a close friend to the deceased identified as Robert Charango Njuguna,35 reported the incident to Kiambu police station after Jonathan failed to pick his phone calls.
Accompanied by the police, they stormed their house and their bedroom which had been locked from the inside and found the couple’s bodies lying lifeless.
They further found a firearm make Glock mini s/no BEZA475.
Later, it was established that Mukundi and Njeri had parted ways for five months prior to her death.
Further, questions were raised on how the lady stayed for 12 years without getting pregnant but conceived just months after parting ways with the husband.
“They had lived together for over 10 years but at some point, the lady moved out following some differences. She was away for close to six months,” said the family source that spoke in confidence due to the sensitivity of the matter.
The last time Njeri was seen in the house is during her birthday that took place in March 2021.
