A Nairobi court has suspended a warrant of arrest for controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi after he presented himself in court on Wednesday.

Nyakundi, accompanied by his lawyers led by Ochiel Dudley appeared before Milimani principal magistrate Caroline Muthoni.

Dudley accused investigating officer Isaac Tenai of DCI Central of lying to court, saying Nyakundi was not informed about coming to court to take plea in the case.

He told the magistrate that on April 17, the court directed that Nyakundi take plea on May 14 and not on April 21 as claimed by the investigating officer.

Nyakundi pleaded not guilty to the charge of publishing false information that a senior KRA official had died of coronavirus and was released on cash bail of Sh50,000.

The case will be mention on May 14.
