Kisii Governor Simba Arati has warned residents of Kisii County against bribing conmen who claim they can help them secure county jobs advertised for medical personnel and Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) teachers.

Speaking during an event on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, he noted that the County Public Service Board has advertised 300 vacancies, including 200 positions for medical staff and ECDE teachers.

Arati said some fraudsters have begun soliciting bribes from unsuspecting applicants, calling the act “wrong and unacceptable”.

The governor revealed that the conmen were using his name to extort money from job seekers. He emphasised that he abhors graft” and urged residents not to fall into such traps.

“I have directed members of the County Public Service Board, chaired by Haroun Maosa, not to solicit bribes from applicants. Those found culpable will be dismissed instantly,” he said.

Arati further instructed the Board to ensure each of the county’s 45 wards benefits from the advertised slots, adding that he will personally monitor the recruitment to ensure fairness and transparency.

Shocking bribery cases reported

The governor cited a disturbing incident in which an applicant for the position of chairman was conned out of Ksh 5 million, five sacks of millet, a goat, and a hen after being misled that the items were meant for the governor.

“Some parents have sold land and cows to educate their children. How dare anyone demand Ksh200,000 or Ksh300,000 as a bribe to influence their employment?” Arati questioned.

On ECDE recruitment, Arati assured that teachers already serving in the sector will be given priority in recognition of their patience and sacrifice. He announced that the county will construct two new ECDE classrooms equipped with large TV screens to enhance learning.

Meanwhile, Governor Arati expressed concern over the slow voter registration in the county. He urged youths who have acquired national identity cards to register and participate in the next General Election.
