Another bodaboda rider grabs, run away with police officer’s phone

A bodaboda rider was on Monday morning, August 30, captured by a CCTV footage snatching a mobile phone from a traffic officer along Kang’undo road, Nairobi County.

In the amateur video that has been making rounds on social media, the rider is captured carefully calculating his move at an oblivious officer, moments before he strikes and make a way with the gadget.

The officer is seen busy making a call besides the motor vehicle, glaring at the swift and traffic free road that probably mad him step aside from his duties to make the call, only to lose the phone moments later.

While showing intent and a hidden motive, the rider concentration was wedged at the officer while gazing at the vehicles, perhaps to calculate the escape route.

Cometh the hour, cometh the bodaboda rider as he speedily rides the motorbike to snatch the mobile phone from the unmindful officer.

The rider then proceeds, and make away with the phone as the officer is left stranded on how to nab the suspect.

However, the officer quickly reacts and boards another motorbike launching a manhunt attack, but it is not clear whether the suspect was nabbed or not.

This is not the fast time, such an incident has taken place, in July, and a similar incident was captured along the busy Thika Highway next to the Roysambu Bridge.

In the incident, a traffic police officer on duty along the Roysambu Bridge got his gadget snatched by a pillion passenger who was on a motorbike.

Before the officer could catch up with him, the rider had already taken off, leaving the cop wondering on the next move to take.

The video quickly made rounds on social media, equally taking the attention of the National Police Service.

However, according to the service, the video was a manipulation and that they were not aware of what took place.

Cases of muggers taking advantage of innocent city dwellers and making away with their valuable goods have been on the increase in the recent past.
