Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has criticised his fellow Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members over their reaction to KANU chairman Gideon Moi’s decision to work with President William Ruto.

In a post on X on Friday, October 10, Amisi said some ODM leaders were acting embarrassingly, warning that their behaviour could damage the party’s long-standing reputation.

He accused them of being too excited about the new political arrangement between KANU and Kenya Kwanza.

The lawmaker said that while politicians keep fighting, ordinary citizens eventually move on with their lives.

“There are old broad-based choir masters who were fighting the standard media and Gedion Moi as if they manufactured COVID-19, wataambia nini watu. The excitement of my ODM colleagues in broad-based is the major undoing, by the time games are played on you, Kenyans will have moved on. Dear ODM tenderpreneurs, you have spoiled Baba’s legacy of 40 years. Shame on you!” Amisi scoffed.

The bromance

His remarks come after President Ruto and Gideon Moi announced a new partnership between KANU and the government.

The two leaders met in Kabarak, where Ruto said they had agreed to work together to support national development.

“I was the person who was very close to Daniel Moi during his final years in his career. I am among the last borns of Arap Moi’s political life,” Ruto said.

He added that the partnership was about building the country, not serving personal interests, and called on KANU supporters to back the cooperation.

“I have had a conversation with many leaders, I have had a conversation even with Raila Odinga and even former president Uhuru Kenyatta and told them that we must lift this country to the next level,” Ruto said.

Gideon Moi said his talks with Ruto convinced him to put aside his senatorial ambitions in Baringo and focus on wider national goals.

He explained that while he initially wanted to run to complete projects in his county, he would now concentrate on helping the president drive national progress.

KANU officials confirmed they would collaborate with the government on key development initiatives. The move also saw the party withdraw from the Baringo senatorial by-election, surprising many of its supporters and shifting local political dynamics.

During his visit to the region, President Ruto promised several projects for Baringo, including new roads, a stadium in Kabarnet, and plans for a university tied to the area’s history.

KANU leaders said more details about how their grassroots networks will be involved would be shared after further consultations
