Activists push for release of Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo after disappearance in Uganda

Kenyan activists have taken the centre stage, demanding the immediate release of Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who were reportedly abducted in Uganda while attending Bobi Wine’s campaign rally.
In a press briefing on Friday, October 3, 2025, the activists firmly stated that they will not relent until justice is served.

“This action is not an act of hostility but a call of accountability, justice, and respect for human rights. As young people committed to democracy, we believe silence in the face of injustice is complicity,” Tito added.
Likewise, the activists led by Marshal Tito called on the government to intervene in the issue and help bring the two home.
“By now, we trust the office, but we want the immediate release of Comrade Bob Njagi and Comrade Nicolas Oyo. So we tell the Kenyan government that this issue must be handled by them. “We are not the ones who should be here saying, ‘Free the two Kenyans,'” the activists added.
On the other hand, the team threatened to go to the International Court of Justice to have the two activists released if both governments fail to cooperate in the release of the two.
“The minister of foreign affairs and also the ambassador of Kenya in Uganda should be taking action while he is in Uganda. So we’ll exhaust all mechanisms if it means we’ll go to the International Court of Justice to have the two comrades released,” the activists added in a joint letter.
The arrest
Two Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, were abducted on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, by four armed men believed to be security officials.
The two, who had joined National Unity Platform presidential candidate Bobi Wine’s campaign trail on Tuesday, were reportedly forced into a vehicle and had their phones switched off.
A friend who escaped the ordeal claims the incident is linked to their support for Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine remarks
Bobi Wine strongly condemned the abduction of Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, saying the pair had been picked up mafia-style at a petrol station and driven off to an unknown destination.
On the other hand, the Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said that foreign affairs officials were working to ensure their safe release.
“It is the duty of the government of Kenya to protect its citizens in any part of the world,” Murkomen said.
Bobi Wine, a pop star whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, is running for the presidency in next year’s elections, challenging President Yoweri Museveni, 80, who has held power since 1986.
He said the two Kenyans were being targeted by the Ugandan government for associating with him.
The Ugandan presidential candidate took to his official X account, where he further condemned the arrest while demanding the release of the two.
“We condemn the continuing lawlessness by the rogue regime and demand that these brothers be released unconditionally! The criminal regime apparently abducted them simply for associating with me and expressing solidarity with our cause!” he posted on X.
