74-year-old Nyamira man locks himself inside house, sets it ablaze after quarrel with wife

Police in Masaba Nyamira county has arrested one John Ayuka Asanyo for an alleged suicide attempt.

The 74-year-old was detained when neighbours called the area chief to report he was suicidal, after locking himself inside his house and setting it ablaze.

According to a police report, Asanyo is said to have attempted suicide following a quarrel with his wife.

“John Ayuka Asanyo aged 74 years locked himself inside his house and started a fire with an intention of burning himself inside. Neighbours came to his rescue and after which informed the area assistant chief who arrested him for further legal action, ” the police report read in parts.
