6 dead, 27 injured in Nyandarua road accident

Six people died on the evening of Monday, June 9, 2025, after a bus they were travelling in rolled along the Oljoroorok-Ndundori-Nakuru road in Nyandarua County.
Nyandarua County Commissioner Abdirisak Jaldesa said among the deceased, who are believed to be tourists, are four men, one woman, and a child.
Twenty-seven others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital in critical condition following the 4pm crash.
Jardesa said the tourists were travelling from Nakuru to Nyahururu’s Panari hotel, where they were to spend the night.
The accident occurred in the Gichaka area of the Oljoroorok constituency.
“We have confirmed that six people have died in the accident. We are yet to determine their nationalities. The rest have been taken to hospital in Nyahururu, and we will provide more information as it becomes available,” he said.
According to local residents, the bus was travelling along the road when it began to rain.
“It lost control and rolled several times. It hit a tree and finally came to a stop. We rushed to the scene and helped rescue the occupants,” MacDavis Wanjau said.
