Five people have died and 14 others sustained injuries in A road crash at Longisa area on the Narok-Bomet highway.

Police said one person died on the spot in the Thursday morning accident while the other four succumbed while receiving treatment at the Longisa Sub-County Referral Hospital.

“The matatu was trying to overtake another a lorry but there was another vehicle oncoming so the driver tried to avoid colliding with it and lost control,” said Bomet Central Police Commander Musa Omar.

The vehicle, belonging to Egesa Sacco, was headed to Kisii from Nairobi.

“I urge drivers to be careful and avoid speeding. We are waiting for the driver to recover to record a statement,” Mr Omar said.
