Three General Service Unit (GSU) officers were on Tuesday night injured after they were ambushed by suspected bandits in the restive Kapedo area that lies on the Turkana and Baringo counties.

The ambush occurred while they were on patrol heading to Kasarani in the volatile Kapedo area, where a senior GSU commander was killed by bandits while reinforcing a team that came under attack.

“The GSU officers called for reinforcement and air support. A flight was used to evacuate the injured officers,” a report seen by Mediamax Digital read in part.

Following the Sunday bandit attack on security officers, the government launched a massive manhunt for the armed thugs that laid siege on the team from the Rapid Deployment Unit at Ameyen area on the Turkana and Baringo counties.

Interior CS, Dr. Fred Matiang’i said the Inspector-General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai, has deployed officers for an unprecedented operation in the area.
