Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i, is set to declare the lawless Kapedo in Baringo County, a disturbed area.

CS Matiang’i is also set to issue a Gazette Notice imposing a dusk-to-dawn curfew from 6 pm-6 am in a bid to flush out bandits who have been terrorizing communities in Baringo and Turkana counties.

Last week, tension escalated in the region following the killing of a senior police officer shortly after a peace meeting at Kapedo.

The situation was aggravated by the execution-style killing of a senior Teachers Service Commission officer and five other people whose bodies were dumped at Kiserian in Baringo South Sub County where bandits had raided a village.

The slain TSC officer, who was the Tiaty Sub-County Human Resource Officer, and the five others were allegedly snatched from a bar in Chemolingot on Tuesday evening, January 19, and their bodies later found dumped.
