Nominated Member of Parliament David Sankok now wants President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto jailed for engaging in bribery in the run-up to the 2013 general election.

Speaking on a local television station on Thursday morning July 28, 2022, the MP said if Uhuru paid Ruto, they should both be jailed.

“If it is true that that the president paid deputy president to gain his support, they should actually be in jail. They should be in Kamiti Maximum Prison.

“I know my president cannot buy support, he actually won the hearts of Kenyans. The DP cannot be paid, he supported Uhuru genuinely and from the bottom of his heart,” he said.

Sankok was reacting to claims by former Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju who on Wednesday said Uhuru paid Ruto to get his support in 2013.

According to Tuju, Uhuru’s friends paid Ruto billions of shillings and he was later awarded half of the government in Jubilee’s first term.

“For a man who says seven billion ‘is only’ your guess is as good as mine. It was in the billions.

“That was like the upfront payment then the final payment was through grabbing certain ministries,” he said.
