Police have launched investigations into a robbery incident reported at the residence of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji in Riverside, Nairobi, on Thursday night.
Police reports indicate that the thugs gained access to Haji’s residence through the main get before breaking into his mansion.
They got away with household items including two Apple laptops, a 75-inch Samsung TV, a Sony Play Station 4, assorted shoes and two bags.
Haji’s children and two house helps identified as Yoseph Mutindi and Sidi Safari were reportedly in the house but didn’t hear any commotion during the incident. The public prosecutor was not at home.
Only one police officer was on duty at the DPP’s residence at the time of the robbery.
Nairobi Regional Police Commander James Mugera said police processed the scene and are pursuing the thugs.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions also confirmed the incident and urged Kenyans not to politicize the incident.
“The DPP would like to clarify that there was a robbery at his residence, not his office, & investigations are ongoing. The ODPP, as a Prosecuting Authority, doesn’t collect or store evidence of any nature. Members of the public & media are urged not to politicize this incident,” ODPP said.
