United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flagbearer Deputy President William Ruto is advocating for calm even as the nation anxiously awaits presidential results.

It has been five days since Kenyans cast their votes to pick the country’s new president. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is still tallying the presidential votes.

The vote tallying at Bomas of Kenya has raised anxiety as both Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance and Kenya Kwanza exude confidence in producing the country’s fifth president.

The UDA leader called on Kenyans not to be anxious in a post on social media where he quoted Bible verse – Philippians 4: 4-7.

“Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. — Philippians 4: 4-7,” Ruto wrote.

Ruto’s post comes after his main challenger Raila Odinga called for peace even as the nation awaits presidential results.

Raila while speaking at St. Francis ACK Church in Karen, Nairobi County, shared a message of hope to Kenyans quoting a prayer on peace.
