List of areas scheduled for power blackout on Saturday

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of a scheduled blackout on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

The utility firm in the notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network.

“Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules that the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: (It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power lines during construction, etc.),” Kenya Power said.

The utility firm noted that the Saturday power interruption will affect Bungoma and Busia Counties.

Bungoma

Parts of Bungoma County will be affected by a seven-hour blackout, from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The affected areas include; St. Teresa, Wananchi, Kwa Dinah, Lavington Est, St. Mary’s. St. Angela, Matisi Water Treatment, Matulo, Milo, Kuuywa, Khalumili, Ngwelo, Munyikana, Malaha Mkt, Bunjosi, Sirisia, Kituni, Malaha Kingdom Hosp & adjacent customers.

Busia

Parts of Busia County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The blackout will hit the larger Nambale DC and Lugulu areas.

The specific places affected include; Esalwa Sec, Rabuor Mkt, Sagam Hosp, Rawa ACK, Mindhine Poly, Omindo Pri, Gongo Health Centre, Migosi Pri, Madende, Namahindi, Mungatsi & adjacent customers.
