Police in Kisii South sub-county are investigating an incident in which one person was shot in Itibo area on Monday night after supporters of two political rivals clashed.

Sub-County Police Commander Charles Machinji (pictured) said a confrontation ensued at around midnight during which Edward Bosire, 40, was shot, injured and rushed to Bosongo hospital. Machinji said one suspect was arrested while police are pursuing others.

Area MCA Ismael Matundura, who is defending his seat on the Orange party ticket, blamed his rival, Eric Ntabo of  the United Democratic Alliance for the incident, claiming his supporters were bribing voters.

Matundura claimed four spent cartridges were recovered at the scene.
