A 37-year-old police constable attached to the Critical infrastructure protection unit (CIPU) has committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in his rented house in Kimathi Estate in Nyeri town.

According to Nyeri Central Sub-County Commander Paul Kuria, the officer failed to report to work in the morning and when attempts to reach him failed, they went to look for him only to find the door of his house locked from inside.

“The officer left work for home yesterday evening and when he failed to report to work today, we tried to reach him and later we found him dead in his house with gunshot wounds,” Kuria said.
