Detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested an armed thug who has been on the run after a robbery incident in Kariobangi.

In a statement, Francis Shimoto, 26, was in the company of another criminal. The two were riding on a motorbike when they snatched a woman’s handbag at gunpoint.

Police who were on patrol got wind of the incident and launched a manhunt immediately.

“What followed was a chase reminiscent of the recently concluded Vasha Safari Rally, as the sleuths went after the two thugs who immediately took flight on noticing the menacing DCI Subaru ya Mambaru in full capacity, approach. As the motorbike negotiated a bend leading to Riverside, the detectives’ vehicle closed in and intercepted the motorbike which veered off the road landing in a ditch,” part of the statement read.

Preliminary investigations established that Shimoto was among Nairobi’s most wanted murder suspects.

During the arrest, sleuths also discovered a beretta pistol loaded with 11 rounds of 9mm calibre and 2 Kilograms of marijuana.
