Monday power blackout to affect 6 counties

Kenya Power and Lighting Company has announced scheduled power interruptions in select parts of the country on Monday, February 12, 2024.

In a public notice on Sunday, the utility firm said the power interruptions will affect six counties, including parts of Homa Bay, Embu, Nyeri, Machakos, Kiambu and Kilifi.

In Homa Bay, the blackout will be experienced in Oyugis Town, Saye, Nyabondo, Nyadendi, Obisa, Rongo Primary, Nyangiela, Third Engineering, Kasimba, Mathenge, Nyatindo, Kawere, Ongamo, Mosocho and adjacent areas.

The aforementioned areas will experience a blackout between 9.00 am and 3.00 pm.

Parts of Embu are scheduled to experience power interruptions from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

The areas affected are Mungania Tea Factory, Kianjokoma market, Kathande Village, Kamugere, Kianyangi, Weru wa Kaimba, Ngurueri factory and adjacent areas.

In Nyeri County, the power interruption will be experienced at New KCC Kiganjo, Chaka market, Maisha Flour Mills, Kiganjo market, Kiganjo Police College, Kirichu market, Rosa Academy, Kagumo High School, Ndurutu, Gladstone Hotel, Kiganjo Nyewasco Sewerage and adjacent customers.

In Machakos County, the power maintenance is scheduled to run between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas set to be affected include Masii, Mwala, Mbiuni and Kasolongo markets, Muthetheni, Miu, Katangi, Kavumbu, Ikalaasa, Tulila, Yathui, Syokisinga, Kenyatta, Ikombe, Kyua, Ngumbulu SEKU and adjacent areas.

Parts of Kiambu County will experience a power blackout between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. The areas are PCEA University, Thogoto, Alliance Girls’ High School, Alliance Boys, PCEA Kikuyu Hospital, University of Nairobi Kikuyu Campus and adjacent areas.

Additionally, the following areas will be affected in Kilifi County Malindi Golf, Sand-Piper School, Woburn Residence, Kisumu Ndogo, Danga, Mulika Mwizi and adjacent areas.

The power maintenance in Kilifi will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
