Mediamax journalists scoop medals at AJEA 2024
Mediamax Network Limited journalists scooped medals in this year’s Annual Journalism Excellence Awards ceremony.
Reyhab Watari, John Wangugi, and Vincent Voiyoh shone at the Media Council of Kenya’s award gala that was held on Friday, May 3, 2024, in Nairobi.
Others who made it to the AJEA’s 12th edition podium were Bernard Gitau alias Gitau wa Wanjiku, Shadrack Andenga and Mombasa-based camera person Bonface Msangi
Watari of K24 TV together with her cameraman John Wangugi emerged as the best in the Agriculture and Food Security reporting category for her story dubbed ‘Preservation of indigenous seeds’.
Voiyoh’s ‘Ingwe Digitali’ that ran on Milele FM scooped the top award in the category of best Digital Superhighway and Innovation Reporting.
Representing K24 TV, Andenga’s sports story; Maisha upweke baada ya sifa emerged the First Runner Up in the Sports category
Kameme TV’s Bernard Gitau alias Gitau wa Wanjiku also emerged as Second Runner Up under the Best Digital Superhighway and Innovation Reporting category.
The story that saw him line up for the honour was titled; ’Ndogo ya kuhitana na unyihu wa Mai’.
K24 TV’s Msangi was also recognized in the Breaking News category.
Other finalists included Health Reporter Ben Kirira with his K24 TV’s ‘Unveiling the hidden dangers: Cholera threat in Kenya‘ story and People Daily Newspaper’s Jasmine Atieno whose story had been shortlisted for Blue Economy and Business Reporting award.
The journalists were among the 75 finalists from over 1,000 entries across the Kenyan media.
