Kenya Railways issues 2-week vacation notice to Taita-Taveta residents

The Kenya Railways Corporation has asked residents living along the Voi-Taita Taveta MGR line corridor to vacate voluntarily or face forceful eviction.

In a notice shared across their official social media accounts, the entity announced that the move is set to facilitate the rehabilitation of the 127km Voi-Taveta MGR line.

“We wish to bring to the attention of all members of the public that the corporation intends to rehabilitate the 127KM of Voi-Taveta MGR line,

“Two weeks(14 days) notice is hereby issued to all unauthorized persons who have encroached, are living on and/or operating along Voi-Taita Taveta MGR line corridor, to voluntarily vacate immediately or face forceful eviction upon expiry of this notice, in order to give way for the planned revitalization exercise.” the notice reads in parts.

Kenya Railways warn residents

The entity further warned that any illegal structures and property found along the Voi-Taveta MGR line will be demolished.

“Further take notice that any illegal structures/property found along the Voi-Taveta MGR line will be demolished and/or removed at the encroacher’s risk and cost,” the notice added.
