Thursday blackout to affect 7 counties – Kenya Power

Kenya Power issued a notice informing Kenyans of power interruptions in select parts of the country on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The utility firm in a notice on its website said that the power interruption is necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade power lines to the network.

The utility firm noted that the Thursday power interruptions will affect Nairobi, Machakos, Homa Bay, Kilifi, Mombasa, Murang’a and Trans Nzoia counties.

Kenya Power said parts of Nairobi County will be in blackout for eight long hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Kibagare Way, Kibagare slums and adjacent customers.

In Machakos County, the power interruptions will start at 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Quickmart Express, Grogon, Machakos Girls, Five Hills, Misakwani, Kyambuko, Westgate, Iveti Hills and adjacent customers.

Parts of Homa Bay County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Omboga, Obilo Primary School, Adiedo, Maago, Orire, Wikondiek, Opanyi, Rabware, Raongo, Nyawino and adjacent customers.

Parts of Kilifi County will experience power interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Oceanb Beach, Malindi Golf, Malindi Prison, Woburn Residence, Kikokoni, Mijikenda Residence and adjacent customers.

Parts of Mombasa County will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Doshi Ironmongers, Great Lakes, Modern Soap, Corrugated Sheets, Karibu Flour Mills, Fossil Fuels, Kitui Flour Mills, Transpares, Owino Uhuru, Mikindani Estate, Kula Unone, Kajembe Secondary School, Mikindani Catholic Church, Shelly Beach Hospital, St. Thomas Hospital, Pungu Villas, Co-operative Bank, King Fisher, Mtaa wa Makka, Dudus, Swabrina, Brazil, Centi Kumi, Vanga Estate, Muzdhalifah, Kwetu Beach, Furaha Gardens, Talentos, Centel, Mzungu Mchafu and adjacent customers.

Parts of Murang’a county will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The areas affected include; Branan Estate, Githumbuini Estate, Golden Pearl Estate, Kahaini Market, George Thuo & OLA, Ngararia Girls, Ngararia Market, Kiunyu, Kiama Estate, Gatoka, Gatunyu, Kimatus, Mabanda, Ithangariri, Gatanga, Kirwara, Gateiguru, Mukarara, Rugaita, Kihumbuini, Thuita, Mukurwe, Njaini Market, Naaro, Muruka, Kiranga, Nguthuru, Muirini Secondary, Munyori Market, Ruchu, Githuya, Kiguoya, Gacharage, Ngoe, Kinage, Mukuria, Gateiguru, Gitaibuka, Kahinga, Githigia, Mukurwe, Mungaria, Rwathe, Gatitu, Kibereke, Mahutia, whole of Kandara, Kiiri, Kariua, Gatitu, Gathuri, Karugia, Majuu, whole of Gaichanjiru, Kangunduini, Gakira, Githima, Kandiri, Kahariro, Turururu, Kariani, Nguku, Mathereini, Kenyoho, whole of Githunguri, whole of Kabati and adjacent customers.

Parts of Trans Nzoia county will be in blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include; Kitalale, Marabachi, Kinyoro, Nakami, Olkadongo ADC, Rafiki, Panocal, Elgon Team and adjacent customers.
